Unfortunately, the decision has been made to cancel this year’s Potton Apple Day
The 10th Potton Apple Day will be held on Sunday 27th September 2020 in Henry Smith Playing Fields from 12 pm until 3 pm. At present, it is not known what activities will be offered that will comply with the guidelines on the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, but a celebration of apples and orchards is planned in a very 2020 fashion. It will be an outdoor event with plenty of space for social distancing.
Hopefully, there will be apple juice and cider for sale on the day, along with food and music; displays of Bedfordshire apples and information about orchards, an apple identification service and fruit trees for sale. It looks like it’s going to be a good harvest, so there should be unusual varieties of apples for sale.
Inevitably, there will be less interaction due to the risk or cross-contamination, but hope that a 10th anniversary event can be offered that is different in many ways, but still a very ‘Potton’ style event. In these evolving circumstances, the intention is to announce all the details soon, so watch out for details locally and on social media. ‘Like’ Potton Apple Day Facebook page if you want to see event details, as they’re confirmed.
