D-DAY 80 – 6th June 2024
In 2024, the UK will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings on 6th June 1944 with a series of major commemorations and events across the UK and in France.
Also know as D-Day, the historic operation saw the Allied Forces mount a large-scale invasion of Nazi-occupied France that ultimately tipped the course of the Second World War in the Allies’ favour.
Potton will play its part in commemorating D-Day on Thursday 6th June 2024, with the following:
- 8am The Proclamation in the Market Square by the Town Crier
- 9.15pm The Lighting of the Beacon and International Tribute in Henry Smith Playing Fields
